In 1978, the oil tanker Amoco-Cadiz broke up off the coast of France, dumping 220,000 tons of heavy crude oil into the Atlantic. The spill was so large that the entire Brittany coast was impacted. Because of the tremendous costs involved, only selected sections were treated with detergents and dispersants.

Local resident of New Orleans, musician Lenny Kravitz, blames "greed and convenience" for triggering one of the biggest environmental catastrophes of our life time. Lenny says this area is the "soul of America" and has taken some hard knocks recently. He believes in the spirit of the community and it's ability to bounce back but acknowledges this will be a tough battle.
