ACCP: The Conference 2016 opened today at the Westin Gaslamp in San Diego, CA.

SAN DIEGO, March 22, 2016 /3BL Media/ - ACCP: The Conference 2016 opened on March 21st at the Westin Gaslamp in San Diego, CA. The Conference drew more than 250 Corporate Responsibility professionals from around the country. Companies represented included some of the world’s most respected and established brands as well as companies just beginning to build a name in the world.

Raj Sisodia, FW Olin Distinguished Professor of Global Business, Whole Foods Market Research Scholar in Conscious Capitalism at Babson College and Co-Founder & Co-Chairman, Conscious Capitalism, provided the opening keynote address.  He spoke to the Power of And that each individual and business can harness when they do something that is worth doing and makes money rather than do something to make money.

Next up, Jill Bolton, Director of Corporate Citizenship at Disneyland Resort, Shelley Hoss, President of the Orange County Community Foundation and Sarah Middleton, Executive Director of the PIMCO Foundation presented a case study on collaboration – Accelerate Change Together (ACT). ACT brought corporate partners and non-profit organizations together to tackle the challenges of disadvantaged youth in the city of Anaheim. This group is proving that working collaboratively can produce greater impact.

Additionally, Jim Gordon, GVP Corporate Brand and Reputation, Time Warner Cable, was featured in The Masters’ Series, an intimate conversation that allows participants to hear from a leader in the field. Jim shared insights on his career journey and urged the group to use their position to innovate and create new opportunities for their companies and society.

Mike Bonifer, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer for bigStory, discussed the importance of starting a story, even if you are unsure of the ending and the power to change a culture when we go from wearing a mask to being unmasked and from lying in the street to reaching the stars.

ACCP: The Conference ended with Sarah Michel from Velvet Chainsaw leading a unique 90 minute session designed to encourage participants to be a resource to each other. In explaining the session, participants were told that when they bring value to others by sharing their knowledge and expertise, their personal social capital will increase.

Conference goers ended the day at The Wave House, where they experience a taste of the surf life, San Diego style.
