The Midfield Terminal Building, for which AECOM is providing construction management services, is the largest contract within the Midfield Terminal Complex — which will be the centerpiece of Abu Dhabi International Airport’s future growth in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Midfield Terminal Building (TCA) at Abu Dhabi International Airport, for which AECOM is providing construction management services, has achieved more than 50 million work hours without a lost-time injury.

The contractor for the MTB is TCA-JV (a TAV-CCC-Arabtec joint venture) and there are more than 16,000 workers currently onsite. The MTB is the largest contract within the Midfield Terminal Complex, which will be the centerpiece of the airport’s future growth in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Alan Stevens, AECOM vice president, said, “A key contributor to the excellent safety record on this project is the constant focus on safe working practices.  We have ensured that everyone is actively involved and held accountable for safety, including the direct trade labor, site supervisors, site management and chief executives from the contractor, the construction management team and the client.  This ‘top down’ and ‘bottom up’ approach has created a positive safety culture on site where everyone takes pride in working safely.”

Chief Executive of Abu Dhabi Airports Tony Douglas said, "This is a remarkable achievement and demonstrates the commitment to a culture that values nothing higher than safety.  The leadership that AECOM has shown is of the highest order.”

AECOM is providing construction management, construction supervision, cost management and contract management services to the Abu Dhabi Airports Company on the US$3-billion project.
