For the past seven years, the ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Innovation has partnered with Freeport-McMoRan to build the capacity of nonprofit organizations in selected communities near the company’s U.S. mining operations. Through a series of trainings and offerings, this partnership has allowed nonprofit organizations additional access and assistance to help them become more sustainable.

Recently, the ASU Lodestar Center was awarded a $91,000 grant from Freeport-McMoRan Foundation to continue such important capacity building efforts. Since 2009, the Freeport-McMoRan Foundation has provided more than $700,000 to the Lodestar Center.

Communities that will receive programming provided by the grant include: Bisbee, AZ; Ajo, AZ; Globe-Miami, AZ; Graham County, AZ; Greenlee County, AZ; Green Valley/Sahuarita, AZ; Climax, CO; Clear Creek County, CO; Grand County, CO; and Grant County, NM.
