AT&T pledges to support 100Kin10, National Network to Grow STEM Initiatives

We are stepping up to the challenge to help increase the number of students and workers with science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills in our country. Our company is one of the largest employers in the country – in 2013 alone we hired about 25,000 employees. Almost ¾ of our recent student hires – including interns – begin their career in a technology centric area.  We believe that advancing STEM education is a critical investment to preparing our future workforce.

Today, I’m at the White House to honor some amazing STEM leaders – the recipients of the National Medal of Science and the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. With me are a multi-sector network of education leaders who are a part of 100Kin10. This network is responding to the national imperative to train and retain 100,000 excellent STEM teachers by 2021. Someday the students they teach could be the recipients of these very medals.

AT&T Aspire is pledging $1,000,000 to 100kin10 over the next three years to support STEM education initiatives across the country. 100kin10 funders, such as AT&T, will work with more than 170 best-in-class programs to collectively reach our shared objective of equipping young people with the skills to succeed in the 21st century.

We believe 100Kin10’s approach towards collective impact is essential, and we are honored to join the effort!
