Veterans Day is a special day for our nation, and it compels us to take action in many different ways. Whether it’s volunteering for a military charity or simply thanking a veteran or service member, each of us are reminded to extend meaningful acts of gratitude to our American heroes.

For more than 5 years, AT&T has teamed up with Cell Phones for Soldiers – a national nonprofit focused on the communication needs of troops and veterans, to show our gratitude and serve those who have served our country so bravely. Cell Phones For Soldiers’ Helping Heroes Home program provides tools to help veterans transition to post-combat life. From cellphones to use for job searches, to computers for communication with family, these tools assist in the effort to improve the lives of veterans.

As the country celebrated Veterans Day this week, Cell Phones For Soldiers and AT&T continued their joint mission of supporting America’s bravest by connecting them to people they love and the opportunities they deserve. AT&T volunteers gave their time on Wednesday to serve homeless veterans at 4 shelters around the country, demonstrating their gratitude for the sacrifices each has made to keep our country safe:

  • Dallas, TX: More than 40 volunteers prepared and served meals for the veteran residents and assisted with facility tasks, such as cleaning, painting and gardening at the Union Gospel Mission.
  • San Pedro, CA:  More than 40 volunteers cleaned outdoor areas, gardened and started seeds in the greenhouse at the Blue Butterfly Village.
  • Minneapolis, Minnesota:  15 volunteers worked alongside staff at Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (Metro)  to serve a meal to the veteran residents and spent time in conversation learning about family, past experiences and more.
  • Hopkinsville, KY: 25 volunteers joined Pennyroyal Veterans Center with serving a meal to the veteran residents.

AT&T is proud to serve those who served, on Veterans Day and every day during the year. These events are just one more reminder and opportunity for us to recognize and remember the heroes all around us. To learn more, visit http://bit.ly/1kKWUyf.
