PISCATAWAY, N.J., June 23, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Worldwide, 2.5 billion people lack access to adequate sanitation facilities. Every single day, 2,000 children die from diseases caused by this lack of safe sanitation.

In 2013, respected plumbing manufacturer American Standard heard these statistics and decided to act. The company donated 533,352 SaTo sanitary toilet pans to help reduce the transmission of disease from open pit latrines, improving the quality of life for residents of Bangladesh. This donation is a key element in the Company's Flush for Good campaign, which aims to increase awareness of the global sanitation crisis and create innovative solutions to help solve it.

Now, in conjunction with Green Builder Media, American Standard is beating the drum louder, expanding the Flush for Good Campaign to reach even more people globally. Here's what you can do to help the cause:

1. Buy a Champion ... and be a champion. For every Champion toilet sold in the United States and Canada in 2014, American Standard will donate one SaTo toilet pan to a developing country that struggles with disease spread through improper sanitation. It's that simple.

2. Help spread the word.

3. Enter to win a Champion toilet. Click to enter. One click and you've help spread the word about the Flush for Good program. Plus, you could also become the proud owner of a water-saving toilet to boot.

American Standard made a Commitment to Action with the Clinton Global Initiative in October 2013, pledging to improve sanitation and quality of life for three million people around the world from 2014 through 2017 through the use of SaTos. Including the 2.5 million residents of Bangladesh receiving safer sanitation assistance during 2013 and 2014, American Standard will reach an estimated 5.5 million people by 2017.

Why champion a cause that is half a world away? “The bathroom symbolizes the most fundamental aspect of the human condition. At our deepest roots, it’s the one thing all humans share,” said Jay Gould, president and CEO of American Standard Brands. “It’s also the roots of American Standard as a company, raising the standard of living for people for nearly 140 years.

We're going to prove just how powerful a toilet can be.
