Amgen Foundation and Khan Academy Come Together to Provide Biology Resources for Students

Oct 5, 2015 3:35 PM ET

Here at the Amgen Foundation, we are deeply committed to inspiring the scientists of tomorrow. Our approach is to invest in creating excellent opportunities for students to learn science, and for science teachers to become even better at nurturing their students’ interest in the subject.

The Amgen Foundation has a longstanding history of reaching students through programs such as the Amgen Biotech ExperienceAmgen Teach, and the Amgen Scholars Program. We are now pleased to announce our support of a new effort to increase access to top notch biology resources globally by the Khan Academy.

Through support from the Amgen Foundation, Khan Academy has started an intense build-up to create a series of new videos, articles, and quizzes that help students taking biology courses at the Advance Placement (AP) through introductory college levels. Khan Academy is a leading non-profit educational organization whose mission is to provide “a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere” through online tools and resources. This mission gets to the heart of the Amgen Foundation’s commitment, and we’re pleased that Amgen’s own scientists have volunteered their knowledge and expertise in reviewing these new biology resources to ensure that they are of the highest quality.

Science is moving fast, so the provision of free, high-quality, up-to-date educational resources in biology is of a critical need for students. I invite you to check out the biology topics that are available now and share them with other budding scientists. Throughout the year and moving forward, Khan Academy will be adding more biology topics and content to make sure students are getting the best opportunities to learn and grow.
