Kuala Lumpur, September 28, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Regional broadcaster Channel NewsAsia will be unveiling its second edition of the Channel NewsAsia Sustainability Ranking at the CSR Asia Summit in Kuala Lumpur on 7 October. The Ranking rates the corporate sustainability performance of businesses in Asia, amid growing awareness among investors and consumers of the importance of such practices.

The first of its kind in the region, the Channel NewsAsia Sustainability Ranking, developed in partnership with Sustainalytics and CSR Asia will identify the top 100 companies in the region with the highest sustainability performance, based on a broad range of environmental, social and governance (ESG) indicators. The Ranking provides investors and consumers with insights into corporate sustainability practices, and aims to provide businesses with a way to benchmark their performance against other regional businesses.

Based on specific ESG indicators and methodology developed by Sustainalytics, a leading provider of ESG and corporate governance ratings and research, the Ranking highlights the overall top 20 companies and the top three businesses per economy. The territories covered are China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and new for 2015 – Japan.

Dr.Richard Welford, Chairman and founder of CSR Asia said that the Ranking will provide businesses with a benchmark to measure their performance.

“Companies not ranked should be asking themselves how business models can be adapted to meet both the expectations of investors and consumers, as well as benefit from the opportunities presented by the drive to a sustainable future,” he said.

The Channel NewsAsia Sustainability Ranking for this year will be announced at the CSR Asia Summit 2015, the annual leading conference on corporate social responsibility in Asia, on October 7th in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
