ATLANTA, February 8, 2016 /3BL Media/ – The Arby’s Foundation, the charitable arm of Arby’s dedicated to helping end childhood hunger, recently earned a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator.  The 4-star rating is a result of the Arby’s Foundation maintaining sound fiscal management practices and a commitment to accountability and transparency in its efforts to ensure all children across America have access to wholesome meals.

Since 2002, using objective, data-driven analysis, Charity Navigator has awarded only the most fiscally responsible organizations a 4-star rating. In 2011, Charity Navigator added 17 metrics, focused on governance and ethical practices as well as measures of openness, to its ratings methodology.  These “Accountability & Transparency” metrics, which account for 50 percent of a charity’s overall rating, reveal which charities have “best practices” that minimize the chance of unethical activities and whether they freely share basic information about their organization with their donors and other stakeholders.

“Arby’s Foundation’s coveted 4-star rating puts it in a very select group of high-performing charities,” according to Michael Thatcher, President & CEO of Charity Navigator. “Out of the thousands of nonprofits Charity Navigator evaluates, only one out of four earns 4 stars -- a rating that demands rigor, responsibility and commitment to openness.  Arby’s Foundation’s supporters should feel much more confident that their hard-earned dollars are being used efficiently and responsibly when it acquires such a high rating.”

“It’s important that our donors trust that we’re using our funding wisely to accomplish our mission to ensure every child in America has the meals they need to succeed,” said Chris Fuller, Executive Director, Arby’s Foundation. “Our 4-star Charity Navigator rating demonstrates to our supporters that we take being good stewards of funding very seriously.”

The 4-star rating adds to numerous awards and accomplishments achieved by the Arby’s Foundation in 2015. Accolades include: providing access to over 1.6 million Arby’s Kids Meals through the School’s Out, Food’s In initiative; raising a record-breaking $3.75 million through the National Restaurant Fundraiser; and receiving the Great Oak Award, a marquee award from Share Our Strength honoring exceptional and steadfast partners in their work to end childhood hunger in America.
