ArcelorMittal USA is proud to announce the publication of its annual 2016 United States Integrated Report. Since 2009, ArcelorMittal has reported on its corporate responsibility and sustainability initiatives in the United States. This second publication of an integrated report continues the company’s dedication to transparency and directly connects ArcelorMittal’s 10 sustainable development outcomes to its business outcomes and financial drivers.

“I am proud to continue our commitment to excellence in sustainability reporting and transparency with our second annual integrated report in the United States," said John Brett, president and chief executive officer, ArcelorMittal USA. “This document, and the strategy it details, directly connect the work of our 10 sustainable development outcomes with our operations’ goals and business strategy. For our business, sustainability must deliver long-term value for all our stakeholders.”

Highlights of the 2016 United States Integrated Report include:

  • Achieved a 1.24 lost time injury (LTI) frequency rate, which includes full-time employees and contractors at ArcelorMittal USA LLC facilities and AM/NS Calvert. This is a seven percent improvement over 2015 and its best on record.
  • Produced nearly 15 million tons of raw steel and invested more than $265 million into U.S. operations to enhance production capabilities and improve efficiency.
  • Contributed $7.8 billion in total economic impact including more than $2.2 billion in employee wages and benefits alone (not including expenses related to active and inactive pension and retiree health care).
  • Reduced energy intensity by four percent in the last three years and exceeded its annual reduction goal as part of the company’s 10-year commitment.
  • Contributed $8.2 million in total community investment, including cash grants, employee donations and company matching gifts. Approximately half was in support of education, particularly science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
  • ArcelorMittal employees in the United States donated more than 4,050 hours of their time to the company’s local nonprofit partners through ArcelorMittal-sponsored volunteer projects and doubled skills-based volunteerism in STEM.

In support of the company’s efforts to minimize its impact on the environment, the 2016 integrated report is available online to all stakeholders at www.usa.arcelormittal.com/sustainability. The report can be viewed completely online or downloaded in its entirety, or stakeholders can select specific pages to save as a PDF or print.
