In an effort to help guide the next generation of innovators forward, Arrow Electronics sponsored the Denver Regional FIRST Robotics Competition, which was held March 25 to March 27 at the University of Denver. The regional competition featured 48 high school teams from 11 western states and Mexico. Winners move on to the world championships in St. Louis in late April.

Arrow’s Global Corporate Social Responsibility Director Joe Verrengia served as a nontechnical judge at the event, and Arrow Field Application Engineer Will Pickard—a former FIRST Robotics competition winner himself—served as a student mentor. “Innovation and competition fuel the 21st century—and Arrow’s future,” said Verrengia. “At Arrow, we believe innovation must be taught and few programs do this better than FIRST Robotics.”

FIRST Robotics treats robotics as a varsity sport, holding regional and global competitions based on a new technology kit every year, with over 71,000 high school student participants in the U.S., China and Mexico. Learn more at www.firstinspires.org or www.coloradofirst.org.
