(3BL Media) Denver, CO - June 29, 2012 - You can do something to help the victims devastated by the destruction that’s burning through Colorado. Text the word FIRE to 80000 to give $10 to the mGive Colorado Fire Fund. Donations will go to the Colorado Fire Relief Fund 2012 created by Governor Hickenlooper to assist all communities impacted by the wildfires in 2012.

“mGive is the entity that helped raise $42 million for Haiti, so we are the right people to use our capabilities to create a text donation campaign that can help douse the devastation from Colorado fires,” said Jenifer Snyder executive director of The mGive Foundation. “We have the technology and expertise to make sure the high volume of text donations for fire relief get exactly where a text donor intends.”

According to Emergency Management of the State of Colorado’s Department of Local Affairs, “Financial gifts are the best way to help. Cash allows disaster agencies to purchase exactly what is needed.”  The mGive Foundation has a long-standing reputation of keeping text donation campaigns transparent and efficient with the technology that makes it possible for anyone who has a cell phone to help.

“We are in the business of connecting people. Mobile phones connect our community and text donations allow everyone to be a philanthropist,” said Bill Soards, President of AT&T Colorado.  “It’s only four clicks to text a $10 donation that could bring virtual rain to those who desperately need it.”

“Text donations are the modern day version of the whole town coming out to create a human-powered bucket conveyer belt to try and put out a neighbor’s house on fire,” said Snyder. “More impressive is the quick response from key organizations to collaborate to save lives.”

Snyder is referring to AT&T Colorado’s inaugural donation of $10,000 to start the mGive Colorado Fire Fund.  Governor Hickenlooper’s Colorado Fire Relief Fund created the opportunity for individuals, corporations, and foundations (like The mGive Foundation) to collaborate more effectively to help Colorado communities affected by the wildfires.

Charges will appear on your wireless bill, or be deducted from your prepaid balance. All purchases must be authorized by account holder. Must be 18 years of age or have parental permission to participate. Message and Data Rates May Apply. Text STOP to 80000 to STOP. Text HELP to 80000 for HELP. Full Terms: Privacy Policy:
