Blended finance is the new buzzword that can be heard with increasing frequency at the meetings of the IMF, the World Bank or the World Economic Forum. It includes a combination of public and private financing along with charity funds to make money available for worthy global causes.

The goal of blended finance is to support critical developmental and sustainability projects in areas where private investors are reluctant to take initiative because the returns are either hard to monetize or the risks are too high.
