DetermiNation Blog

One of the most rewarding things about blogging for me has been having the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others by supporting  causes that are near and dear to my heart. As a member of the American Cancer Society (ACS) Blogger Advisory Council for the past 2.5 years, I’ve been able to lend my voice to support the movement for More Birthdays – to celebrate those individuals that survived cancer, those that lost the battle and work for a world with less cancer and More Birthdays.

During my time with the ACS BAC, I had the opportunity to meet a woman that defined the word DetermiNation - Susan Nieber.

Susan Niebur was also a member of BAC and shared her experience living and fighting IBS cancer on her blog Toddler Planet. When I met Susan in New York on a BAC trip I knew this woman was a force to be reckoned with. A  mother of two small children, a rocket scientist, an advocate and a fighter. Susan was kicking cancer’s ass!The last time I saw her was in October at the Blogalicious conference. We were there with ACS celebrating birthdays and she gave a speech that was amazing, beautiful and I sincerely doubt there was a dry eye in the house. All of this and she had JUST returned from a treatment.   Truly an inspiration! And I’ve decided to run the New Orleans Rock n Roll 1/2 marathon in her honor!
