Booz Allen Invites Girls to Invent, Innovate at THE IMAGINE IT BOOK Launch

Nov 28, 2017 3:25 PM ET

Solving the world’s toughest problems requires grit and determination, sound education, and endless curiosity. To spark that curiosity and nurture kids’ innate passion to create, Booz Allen Hamilton has invited D.C.-area girls to its Innovation Center for an event featuring the launch of THE IMAGINE IT BOOK: Discover, Create, and Invent our Amazing Future! written by Ellen Sabin, published by Watering Can® Press, and underwritten by Booz Allen.

The IMAGINE IT book—focuses on STEM principals and reads like a creative adventure—combining fun learning activities with conversation starters and journal-style pages to inspire kids to play, think, build, explore and learn. Along the way, it encourages children to harness their creative power to merge creativity with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as they explore and find opportunities to shape the future through invention, innovation, and discovery. At the November 30 event, held in partnership with Girl Scouts nation’s capital and Girls, Inc., Booz Allen volunteers will guide 2nd and 3rd grade girls through fun, hands-on, STEM-based activities designed to spark a love of innovation.

“Today’s kids are tomorrow’s problem-solvers, inventors, and visionaries,” said Booz Allen Chief Innovation Officer Susan Penfield. “Booz Allen has long been committed to helping build the next generation of STEM leaders—and we are determined to bridge the diversity gap in the STEM workforce. By encouraging young girls to pursue their passion for science, technology, engineering and math, we are ensuring a strong pipeline of STEM talent—and we may in fact be training future Booz Allen problem-solvers!”

Booz Allen Chief Personnel Officer Betty Thompson said, “At Booz Allen we know just how much diversity of all kinds contributes to the development of innovative ideas that benefit our clients and the world around us. We are proud to spread copies of The IMAGINE IT BOOK, and to continue our work to nurture the next generation of diverse STEM talent.”

THE IMAGINE IT BOOK event will be held Thursday, November 30, from 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM EST at Booz Allen’s Innovation Center in Washington, D.C.

Each girl who attends will receive a copy of THE IMAGINE IT BOOK to take home.
