Los Angeles, December 2, 2015 /3BL Media/ -- CBRE Group, Inc. today announced that Lisa Colicchio, a director of corporate responsibility, has received Green Building and Design (gb&d) magazine’s Women in Sustainability Leadership Award, which honors 20 women across the country who are making lasting change in creating a more sustainable world.

With Ms. Colicchio’s active contributions, CBRE has consistently gained industry recognition for its environmental sustainability initiatives, including receiving the EPA 2015 Energy Star® Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award for eight years in a row. She is actively involved in collaborative research projects with academic partners under the CBRE Real Green Research Program and has directed the internal training program that to date has trained  more than 18,500 CBRE employees in the CBRE/BOMA BEEP building energy efficiency training program. Ms. Colicchio also spearheaded a partnership this year with SemaConnect, a leader in Class “A” commercial electric vehicle charging solutions, to launch a series of education campaigns to bring greater awareness of electric vehicle benefits to commercial property professionals across the nation.

“This is a very deserved honor for Lisa. Since the beginning of our sustainability efforts she has been singularly responsible for many of our most visible and successful programs and projects. She has been an especially tireless advocate for our training and engagement platform as well as many of our industry and academic advocacy programs. I am pleased that her passionate leadership has been recognized,” said Dave Pogue, CBRE’s Global Director of Corporate Responsibility.

“The ultimate goal of the awards is to create a global central hub that identifies and advances top-level female sustainability executives who can then, in turn, support younger women with dreams of reaching such levels of success,” says Chris Howe, publisher & CEO of gb&d. “We hope this can be a platform for women who are creating lasting change to act as role models for those who might just be starting their career,” adds Laura Heidenreich, the magazine’s president and associate publisher.

The magazine presented the second annual WSLA with Mohawk Industries in partnership with the United States Green Building Council, Ernst and Young, DuPont, United Airlines, and Steelcase. The winners were hand selected by a judging panel that includes Rochelle Routman of Mohawk Industries (and the chair of the WSLA Alumni Group), Kimberly Lewis of the USBGC, Charmaine Atherton of Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and Chris Howe and Laura Heidenreich of Green Building & Design. The 20 winners were honored during this year’s Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Washington D.C.
