December 15, 2015 /3BL Media/ - The World Environment Center (WEC) is pleased to announce that the 2016 Gold Medal Award for International Corporate Achievement in Sustainable Development has been awarded to CH2M, one of the world’s premier infrastructure and natural resource management companies. The award will be presented to CH2M Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jacqueline Hinman on May 19, 2016 at the 32nd Annual WEC Gold Medal Gala in Washington, D.C. The Gold Medal Gala will be followed on May 20, 2016 by the WEC Gold Medal Colloquium.

CH2M is being recognized for its deep commitment to sustainability and social responsibility throughout the company, including valuing ecosystems services, partnering with leading environmental non-profits, and acting as a global leader in international water initiatives.

“We are honored to receive such an outstanding distinction, especially knowing that so many of our pioneering, visionary clients have received the Gold Medal Award before us,” said Jacqueline Hinman, CEO and Chairman of CH2M. “We built our company around innovation, creativity, and collaboration, and it’s a privilege to do work that advances the well-being of our clients and communities.”

CH2M’s Gold Medal submission was evaluated in a global competition with companies in multiple business sectors by WEC’s independent Gold Medal Jury, chaired by Kathy Sierra, senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. “On behalf of the Gold Medal Jury, I extend my congratulations to CH2M for embedding sustainability within its core mission, and for embracing innovation to become a leader in the environmental engineering field,” stated Ms. Sierra. “From natural capital solutions to green infrastructure, sustainable water management and STEM education, CH2M embodies a forward-looking, holistic approach to corporate sustainability.”

The WEC Gold Medal Award is presented annually to a global company that has demonstrated a unique example of sustainability in business practice and is one of the most prestigious forms of recognition of a global company's ongoing commitment to the practice of sustainable development. Recent recipients of the WEC Gold Medal Award are: SC Johnson (2015), Unilever (2013), IBM (2012), Nestlé (2011), Wal-Mart Stores (2010), The Coca-Cola Company (2009), and Marks & Spencer (2008).
