Campaign: Fueling Good

BOSTON, Sept. 17, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Red Sox fans have something else to cheer about now that the Red Sox Foundation and CITGO, along with its local branded Marketers and Retailers, are joining forces to further help underserved youth in the Boston area. With a $2,500 donation of CITGO Gift Cards, the foundation can now provide transportation for youth involved in its two key efforts - the Red Sox Scholars Program, which has awarded 250 students with college scholarships since inception in 2003, and the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program aimed toward teaching at-risk children about non-violent conflict resolution, resistance to drugs and alcohol, health and fitness, and educational achievement through the game of baseball.

“By bringing together CITGO and the Red Sox Foundation, we can truly make a difference in the lives of youth in the Boston community,” said Tim Wakefield, Honorary Chairman, Red Sox Foundation. “From providing scholarships and activities for our Red Sox Scholars to teaching life lessons through baseball to thousands of children each year in our RBI program, the Foundation is grateful to partners like CITGO whose support allows us to continue these initiatives and fulfill our mission.”

This donation is just one way that CITGO and its local Marketers and Retailers are implementing the CITGO Fueling Good® program, which encourages everyone to get involved in their community and share the responsibility for improving the lives of others.

“Most Bostonians associate CITGO with baseball since our iconic sign resides near Fenway Park,” said Alan Flagg, CITGO Assistant Vice President of Supply and Marketing. “By working with the Red Sox Foundation and supporting area youth, we are also demonstrating how we fuel good in our local communities each and every day, even during the off season.”
