May 14, 2013 /3BL Media/ - AIAG has recognized the individual achievements of five leaders in the automotive industry for their accomplishments and dedication in the area of corporate responsibility. The not-for-profit, member-supported organization that helps automotive companies operate at peak performance presented the volunteer awards during a ceremony at its 2013 AIAG Corporate Responsibility Summit.

“The honorees are outstanding volunteers in AIAG’s corporate responsibility activities and initiatives,” said J. Scot Sharland, executive director of AIAG. “They have worked hard to make a difference for their companies, their customers and the automotive industry, which is a testament to the increasing importance of these issues in global business today.”

Outstanding achievement awards were presented to Amanda Bishop (Visteon), Luke Contos (DWI-SMW), Al Hildreth (General Motors), Marc Robling (Bosch) and Jean-Paul Meutcheho (Ford Motor Company). Each was selected by peers for tireless work in advancing the corporate responsibility goals and initiatives of the automotive industry.

In addition, AIAG recognized the efforts and outstanding leadership of volunteers in two work groups. The Chemical Management and Reporting Training group created a new three-part global chemical regulation awareness and management training series, which will serve as the basis of AIAG’s chemical regulatory curriculum and assist the industry in staying abreast of global mandates. The Conflict Minerals RFP and Tool Alignment work group developed the specs to conduct a vendor search for a common conflict minerals database tool and delivered a customized product that will be a valuable resource for companies in the automotive industry. Representatives of American Honda, Delphi, Bosch, Denso International North America, Nexteer, RSJ Technical Consulting, Ford Motor Company, Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America, and General Motors were among those receiving recognition.

AIAG’s annual Corporate Responsibility Summit assembles representatives from progressive companies that are embracing corporate social responsibility and leading efforts to protect people and the planet through positive, impactful business activities. The event presents robust discussion on best practices, emerging trends and fresh approaches to improving corporate social responsibility among thought leaders from several different business functions, including manufacturing, legal, ethics, marketing/communications, sustainability, purchasing, and health and safety.
