BNY Mellon President Karen Peetz earned the top spot on this year’s list of Most Powerful Women to Watch published by American Banker magazine, citing Peetz as a leader who has “honed the art of managing -- and leading -- through times of change.” This prestigious ranking celebrates the impact, intellect and performance of the most influential women leaders in the financial services industry.

American Banker recognized Peetz’s leadership efforts designed to restore trust in the financial markets and also celebrated her commitment to building a culture within BNY Mellon that rewards innovation, while also managing risk.

According to the magazine, BNY Mellon is making progress in continuing to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace and has a renewed focus on learning and development, with the promise and potential of BK University. Created at Peetz' direction, BK University is a comprehensive corporate training and development academy with six tracks and global accessibility. Peetz’s public service to Penn State University during a difficult period was also noteworthy. The magazine also celebrated BNY Mellon’s innovation program, which got its start under Peetz as another distinguishing aspect of her leadership.
