Across North America, people perform routine maintenance and activities that may require them to dig underground. Many don’t realize they could be putting themselves and others at risk of injury or even death because they don’t know what’s located below the surface. Every year, more than 200,000 injuries, close calls, deaths and service disruptions are reported due to failures in marking underground utility lines.

Enbridge has joined forces with industry partners, government agencies and underground utility operators to raise awareness about the importance of ground disturbance safety by declaring April Safe Digging Month.

The best way to ensure safe digging is to Call or Click Before You Dig; call, or access online, your utility location provider before doing any work.

Practicing safe digging protects not only you, but your community, the underground services we all rely on, and our environment so, before you build a deck or plant a tree, remember to call 8-1-1.
