Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship offers a 2-Day GRI Certified Training Program #GRI #CSR
Thursday, May 2, 2013 - 12:20pm

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has developed a comprehensive Sustainability Reporting Framework that is widely used around the world. The Framework enables all organizations to measure and report their economic, environmental, social and governance performance, while providing greater organizational transparency. This transparency and accountability builds stakeholders’ trust in organizations, and can lead to many other benefits. Thousands of organizations, of all sizes and sectors, use GRI’s Framework in order to understand and communicate their sustainability performance.

The Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship offers a 2-Day GRI Certified Training Program which prepares participants in coordinating a sustainability reporting process. Participants acquire an overview of the reporting process, develop insight into what actions to take, and are made aware of the potential challenges and benefits of sustainability reporting.

“The course successfully integrated a deep dive into GRI reporting with practical insights from the instructor, guest, and fellow participants. We were encouraged to probe the various aspects of the material, ask challenging questions, and think deeply about what we are trying to get from GRI reporting. Overall, the course was very useful in consolidating my thinking on the topic and helping me to focus on the most pertinent considerations for my reporting needs. I would recommend the course to anyone seeking a thorough, thoughtful, and intellectually stimulating GRI certification course.”

Sustainability Manager, DIRECTTV

Unlike other GRI training programs, our course is open only to corporate managers. Unique to this program - and all Center programs - is the real-life, practical component we bring into the room as current practitioners share their perspectives and lessons learned in their GRI journey.

How will I benefit from this program?

Companies note a wide range of reasons and benefits they derive from the report generation process as it can serve to: inform strategy and culture, establish accountability, provide transparency, stimulate dialogue with stakeholders, and engage employees across the organization in advancing corporate social responsibility. Reports are written with various stakeholders in mind, including investors, employees, senior managers, customers, community organizations and award, ranking and recognition entities. Increasingly, having a CSR report is a standard practice, and the GRI is the de facto framework across the globe.

Why should I attend?

This two-day program will provide you with a comprehensive foundation in the elements of a GRI report, the GRI reporting process and in-depth exploration of key reporting activities. It will equip you with the necessary knowledge to start your company’s first GRI report or transform your existing CSR report into the GRI format. Following the completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Articulate the benefits and challenges of CSR reporting and the structure of the GRI framework
  • Outline the GRI reporting process and apply it to your organization
  • Identify, prioritize and engage stakeholders
  • Select topics for action and report
