December 20,2013 /3BL Media/ - On a global level, companies selected under market capitalization criteria are invited annually to disclose information relating to climate change through CDP reporting system. According to the “CDP Latin America 80 Climate Change Report 2013”, the responses are qualified according to two scoring systems: Disclosure (Transparency) and Performance, where highest scored companies enter the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) and / or the Climate Performance Leadership Index (CPLI) as appropriate.

As regards Latin America, in 2013, 80 companies were invited to participate. Last October, CDP announced in the above-mentioned document, that this year they gathered information from 37 companies in 8 different sectors. In this way, GFNorte was selected within the eight companies that comprise the Latin America Climate Disclosure Leadership Index, for Leadership in Transparency with respect to information relating to climate change provided during 2013.

It is important to note that only two companies of the financial sector became part of the Latin America CDLI, being one of them GFNorte. With a score of 86/100, the Mexican financial institution obtained the second highest Transparency score in this sector.

In accordance with the referred report, the members of the Latin American CDLI were selected applying the global index criteria considering the top ten percentile of the 80 companies invited. The disclosure score evaluates the integrity and quality of the responses, in which a high score means that a company provided extensive information about the measurement and management of their carbon footprint, its climate change strategy and its risk management processes and results.

It should be noted that it is the second year that the CDP recognizes GFNorte because of its information disclosure related on climate change.

For GFNorte belonging to the Latin America CDLI represents a strong incentive to continue strengthening its actions against climate change, being aware that the next step is to improve its monitoring of carbon emissions in order to reinforce and / or enhance reduction projects in its operations, the upcoming implementation of a sustainability management system will represent a significant step towards achieving this.
