Nike, Target, JC Penney, and Levi’s are among 30 manufacturers and retailers who have announced an industry-wide index to evaluate the environmental impact of apparel. The Sustainable Apparel Coalition also includes nonprofits, academics, and the EAP. It aims to reduce the environmental and social impacts of apparel and footwear products sold around the world. Beta testing by members of Version 1.0 of the Apparel Index begins next month. The index draws on previous efforts by members, including the Outdoor Industry Association’s Eco Index.

HelpAttack! is partnering during March with the American Red Cross for National Red Cross Month to support its programs and services. HelpAttack! helps people pledge and give to nonprofits and causes whenever they are active online. For every Tweet or Facebook update, HelpAttack! users can pledge an amount of money to any 501 C 3 nonprofit.
