Caterpillar Provides Generators, FedEx Commits Dollars and Transportation for Sandy Relief; Thermo Fisher Scientific Wins MA Economic Impact Award - CSR Minute for November 6, 2012

Caterpillar is working with its dealers to mobilize equipment and personnel to help areas affected by Hurricane Sandy. 100 megawatts of portable generator sets have been sent to customers in the greater New York City region. Additional hundreds of sets are waiting for use across the eastern U.S. and Canada as priorities are determined and locations identified.
FedEx has committed $1.2 million in cash and in-kind transportation and logistics expertise to support hurricane relief efforts across the northeast corridor of the U.S. FedEx is providing the support to the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, Heart to Heart International, and Direct Relief International.
Thermo Fisher Scientific has won a MassEcon Economic Impact Award for stimulating the Commonwealth’s economy through expansion, investment and community involvement. Thermo Fisher recently opened its new Center of Excellence in Tewksbury to drive research, development, and manufacturing of portable analytical instruments. The company has invested $20 million into the 150,000 square foot facility in an adaptive reuse of an existing building.
