Verizon is launching a $10 million contest, the Possible Answers Award, to challenge the technology industry to develop wireless, wireline, or cloud-based solutions in education, health care, and sustainability. Prize awards of various amounts will be given out in multiple categories. U.S.-based companies, entrepreneurs and individuals are eligible to compete. Winners will be announced at the Consumer Electronics Show next year.

The Chrysler Foundation has awarded $147,000 to 25 elementary, middle, and high school teams, to help offset costs for teams competing in the 2013 FIRST—For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology—Robotics season, which began this month. The Foundation will award $29,000 in additional funds to boost the championship runs of those teams qualifying to compete at the FIRST Championship to be held in April in St. Louis, Missouri.

Online voting for the CR Reporting Awards is continuing through the end of this month. Any reporting stakeholder can be a CRRA jury member by signing up at the free Corporate Register.com Web site. Every voter who votes across all nine award categories will be entered in a weekly Voter’s Prize draw—weekly winners earn a cash prize of 250 pounds, $400 U.S. dollars. The CRRA are managed by Corporate Register.com, a provider of a directory of CR reports.

Investors’ Circle is collaborating with the Consulate General of Canada in New York on their first online pitch event for 2013. Five Canadian cleantech enterprises that are expanding into and doing business in the U.S. will pitch their products online on Thursday, January 17th at 3 pm Eastern Time. The companies selected are early-stage, impact enterprises, meeting the networks' criteria for deal interest. They include Greengage Mobile, a SaaS platform that enables large organizations to create awareness, engage employees and measure the impact of their corporate sustainability objectives through the use of web and mobile software, and Blueprint Energy, a flywheel-based energy storage system that integrates seamlessly into hybrid vehicles.
