John Muir Middle School in Corcoran is one of 24 schools across the country sharing in $1.6 million from the Verizon Foundation as a participant in the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools program.

The grant provides money for two years of professional training for teachers in underserved areas to incorporate mobile communications technology in their classrooms to support teaching in science, technology, engineering and math.
