October 1, 2013 /3BL Media/ - Tom Gleaton is the Henderson Mine Health and Safety Manager in Henderson, Colorado, for Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold. Gleaton was recently inducted into the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s (MSAH’s) Mine Rescue Hall of Fame after more than 28 years of working on the site’s mine rescue team.

MSHA established the Hall of Fame to recognize individuals with exceptional accomplishments and commitment in the field of mine rescue.

Gleaton is the second Henderson employee to earn this distinction. Retired Health and Safety Manager Art Davis was inducted in 2008.

Gleaton started his career in mining at Henderson in 1977. He became a voluntary member of the mine rescue team in 1983 and a mine rescue trainer in 2003. Under his leadership, Henderson’s mine rescue teams have participated and placed in various competitions, including placing first in the technician competition at the recent national championships in Nevada.

Henderson currently has three mine rescue teams, each consisting of six employee volunteers who train for mine rescue in addition to their fulltime jobs.
