GREENSBORO, AL, January 2, 2013 – Maytag® brand and Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) announced that Kristen Rhodes Taylor has been named a “2013 Maytag Dependable Leader” in recognition for her demonstrated commitment to dependability and dedication to keeping youth on the path to achieve great futures.

Kristen Rhodes Taylor was selected as one of 25 nominees to receive the distinction and a $20,000 financial award to help deepen the impact in the community. The grant will further extend Kristen’s respective focus with the Boys & Girls Club of West Alabama to continue and enhance her demonstrated commitment to helping youth achieve great futures.  She intends to use the one-time grant to continue programs that keep the community and youth safe.

“Kristen Rhodes Taylor is truly a dependable leader who selflessly gives her time and efforts to the Boys & Girls Club of West Alabama and we are proud to see her recognized with this incredible award from Maytag,” said Ron Ross of the Boys & Girls Club of West Alabama. “Through the Maytag Dependable Leader Award, Kristen will continue making a positive impact in our community and build upon our reach. The Hale/Greensboro Unit of Boys & Girls Club opened on Monday November 11, 2011 in response to the active community participation to support youth with positive and productive programs and activities. The Club provides more than 155 members with after-school programs, and has a daily attendance averaging 75. The Hale/Greensboro Unit of Boys & Girls Club is an outreach club of The Boys and Girls Clubs of West Alabama, Inc., focusing on education, career development, character and leadership building, life skills, health practices, and arts and cultural awareness.
