"We are committed to eliminating cancers affecting women by supporting top medical scientists working to determine the causes and cures for breast, uterine, cervical, and ovarian cancers," said Karen Rogers, vice chair of the foundation's board of directors. "Our research funding has helped develop targeted therapies, more effective methods for the early detection of the disease, along with studying the hereditary links in cancers. However, cancer isn't cured in the laboratory alone, but also through the courage of those who have battled the disease like Mary Kay independent beauty consultant Dawn Barton who has been cancer-free for nearly two years after fighting stage-three breast cancer."
