The Golden leaf is awarded to companies where corporate social responsibility is a key element of their business strategy. These companies have demonstrated they have a CSR or sustainability strategy and act according to ethical guidelines.

This recent win underlines Mars’ ongoing commitment to reducing the company’s environmental impacts through their ‘Sustainable in a Generation’ program. The goal of this program is to eliminate fossil fuel energy use and greenhouse gas emissions from its operations by 2040 along with similar commitments for water and waste.

Not only does the Golden Leaf assess companies on environmental impact, but also expects the businesses on the list to take a more holistic approach to CSR. Polityka explored how Mars has built responsible relationships with suppliers, honest communication with customers as well as positive relations with local communities.
