Mary Kay employees once got so excited about recycling and waste diversion that they greeted a garbage truck coming for their waste by waving green pompoms.

Today, Mary Kay Inc. continues to forge ahead with its “Pink Doing Green” program by pushing absolutely every scrap of waste or excess manufacturing material back into a recycling loop or into energy production.

“We are diverting almost 100 percent away from the landfill,” says Cristi Gomez, director of product safety and environmental compliance. “Our goal is to not send anything to a landfill or to a traditional incinerator.”
