November 6, 2012 /3BL Media/ - Medtronic, Inc., the global leader in medical technology, ranked 65th on the 2012 Newsweek Green Rankings, an annual evaluation of the most eco-friendly companies in the U.S. In addition, Medtronic ranked 11th in the healthcare sector and 136th on Newsweek’s global ranking.

During the past year Medtronic pursued several initiatives related to its EHS Vision 2015, including implementing a system for collecting product and packaging materials information. The information will allow Medtronic to more effectively assess compliance with environmental regulations globally and respond to customer inquiries. Learn more about the company’s environmental performance in its 2012 Corporate Citizenship Report, “Contributing to a Healthier Future.”

To create the Green Rankings Newsweek awards each company with a Green Score based on its environmental impact, management and transparency regarding performance. The rankings evaluate the largest publicly-traded companies in the U.S. (U.S. 500) and around the world (Global 500). Company size is determined by revenue (most recent fiscal year), market capitalization and number of employees.
