May 22, 2013 /3BL Media/ - Royal BAM Group (AMS: BAMNB) is delighted to present its sixth annual Sustainability report. The report forms part of Royal BAM Group’s Annual Report for 2012. The Sustainability report has been externally verified and complies with the highest application level GRI 3.1 A+ including the Construction and Real Estate Sector Supplement (CRESS). The 2012 Sustainability report is available online via http://www.bam.eu/.

BAM’s policy regarding CSR focusses on promoting safe working conditions and safety awareness throughout the entire construction process, reduction of its carbon footprint, and improving the efficient use of materials.

In 2012 BAM has reduced its Incident Frequency (the relationship between the accidents and number of hours worked), its carbon footprint, and its construction and office waste. In its 2012 Sustainability report, the construction company illustrates how it uses innovation to embed sustainability in the organization.

Some 2012 key results:

  • BAM’s Incident Frequency (IF) has dropped to 6.9 (2011: 7.3).
  • BAM’s carbon footprint fell by 10.0% compared to 2009. BAM’s 2015 reduction target is 15%. Two third of the absolute reduction target is met after three years of the six year target period.
  • Construction and office waste reduced by 60% from 2009. This exceeds BAM’s 2009 ambition of 15% reduction.
  • BAM reported its consumption of resources (concrete, timber, asphalt, bricks and steel) and the applied recycled content for the second year, showing increased recycled concrete content.
  • BAM calculated potable water use from construction sites and offices. BAM consumed 147,000 m3 water in the Netherlands (2011:128,000 m3). Further, BAM extracted about 9.2 million m3 water for construction drainage.
