CAMPAIGN: Pro Bono Week 2013

CONTENT: Press Release

October 18, 2013 /3BL Media/ - From October 21-25, a Taproot Foundation Pro Bono Bus will be touring the streets of Chicago. In partnership with a campaign donated pro bono by Out Cold Marketing, the Taproot-branded Volkswagen Bus will be raising awareness around volunteerism during Pro Bono Week.

Aimed at celebrating and activating the public in pro bono and volunteerism, the Pro Bono Bus will make stops at some of Chicago’s most philanthropic corporations and infamous landmarks downtown and in the surrounding areas. The team will be talking with residents and tourists all over the city, educating them on how they as individuals, companies or nonprofits can get involved and support the pro bono movement. The campaign is organized in conjunction with Pro Bono Week, global platform that acknowledges and inspires pro bono service.

The Taproot Pro Bono Bus will be cruising around Chicago 11 AM – 6 PM Monday through Friday of Pro Bono Week. Want the bus to make a stop at your company or nonprofit? Contact Mary Hankey (mary@taprootfoundation.org).

The entirety of this campaign, including its design and implementation, has been donated pro bono by Out Cold Marketing (outcoldmarketing.com). OCM petitioned their friends to help out as well, securing support for a donated bus wrap from Insight Sign Co. (insightsigncompany.com) and discounted Taproot-branded water bottles from Specialty Marketing (specialtymarketing.com). Taproot’s national Pro Bono Week efforts are generously supported by Deloitte and Capital One.

Since 2001, Taproot Foundation has proven that pro bono service is a viable and reliable tool for strengthening nonprofit organizations. Today, Taproot continues to lead nationally by acting locally, and seeks to build a pro bono marketplace that, like philanthropy, is large, accessible, professional and transparent. By taking lessons learned from our award-winning Service Grant Program and applying them to our innovative new program areas, we work to stimulate the supply of pro bono resources through our corporate Advisory Services practice, as well as demand for these services by giving nonprofits the tools and training that sets them up for successful pro bono engagements. Our work has evolved to include thought leadership and international field-building, convening global leaders in the social sector to guide the design and direction of the pro bono movement while focusing on infusing a pro bono ethic into business professions, professional schools, companies and nonprofits in communities across the country and around the world. Out Cold Marketing specializes in non-traditional, guerrilla, event and social media marketing. With deep roots in the automotive, fashion and action sports industries, they exist to provide brands strategic exposure without pricey media buys. OCM strives to push the envelope, create new experiences for consumers and ultimately get people talking about the brand. They pride themselves in their ability to perform outside of the confines of traditional advertising and turn ideas into campaigns customized to achieve the clients’ goals.

Pro bono--short for pro bono publico, "for the public good"—refers to professional services delivered without expectation of a fee to organizations serving the social good. It is both a form of support for community organizations as well as an increasingly core part of the ethic of business professionals from design to HR and technology, who believe that high-quality professional services are too important to only be available to those who can afford them.
