The Grand Final competition is the final stop for athlete’s competing in the International Triathlon Union (ITU) 2014 World Triathlon Series and the event is expected to attract more than 4,000 athletes, 6,000 accompanying visitors and a worldwide television audience of approximately 45 million.

TransCanada’s investment of $315,000 will help ITU bring this world-class competition to life and the company hopes the event will also inspire Edmonton youth to pursue athletics and an active lifestyle.

“Sponsoring this event also gives us an opportunity to engage our long-time community partners Boys and Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters Edmonton and the Africa Centre,” said Alex Pourbaix, President, Development at TransCanada. “Leading up to the event, TransCanada will work with these partners to help introduce youth to competitive athletics and foster their passion for sports and healthy lifestyle choices.”
