(3BL Media) September 12, 2012 - An early-bird registration discount of $50 has been extended to September 16 by the International Society of Sustainability Professionals for an on-line workshop that it will offer this autumn entitled Focusing and Designing Your Career In Sustainability. The 10-week workshop will provide a cohort of sustainability professionals with the opportunity to strategize and explore career options with Carol McClelland, green career expert and author of Green Careers For Dummies. The program covers a broad range of careers that boost triple bottom line impact through sustainability, environmental responsibility, and social responsibility.

Through a series of proven, practical daily and weekly activities in September, October and November 2012, each participant will brainstorm, with Carol's facilitation and coaching, up to 40 green career ideas and then weave together a career vision that best reflects their values, skills and interests. For people reflecting on a career change, exploring ways to have more impact in a current career in sustainability, or simply curious about their next steps professionally, this workshop is an investment in the future. Carol's workshop is the precursor to the 2013 ISSP Consultants Cohort, which makes it a great place to start for someone considering a career path in sustainability.

Who should attend?

  • Experienced professionals who already know they are passionate about having a triple bottom line impact on the planet through sustainability, environmental responsibility, and social responsibility.

  • Sustainability professionals who want to refocus and redesign their careers to have a greater impact.

  • Professionals considering a career in sustainability.

  • Professionals who are wondering whether pursuing employment options or starting a consulting company is their best option.

To gain the most benefit from the program, professionals must have the ability to explore their interests and options throughout the 10-week course without having to make immediate career decisions or begin an active job search.

At the end of the program, participants will be able to articulate:

  • The way they want to contribute to create a greener, more sustainable future

  • Their short-term target career

  • Their vision for a longer term career goal

With a new level of clarity about their career direction, participants will know:

  • What actions to take

  • What topics to research

  • Who to talk to

  • What training they'll need

  • The most relevant wants to build experience

  • What career to pursue

Online activities begin September 17th and end November 25.
Live webinars are planned for Fridays from 11 am – 12:30 pm on September 21, October 5, 19 and November 2 and 16.
