Action Team

Action Team is a program for high school students to volunteer in their communities. There are Action Teams of student volunteers in high schools across the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.  When you or your school join the Action Team, you’ll stand with Major League baseball players and Volunteers of America as we recruit and train thousands of high school students to make an impact in the lives of their neighbors in need. Conejo Valley, California High Schoolers are on the Run for Local Kids
On Thursday, June 15, Westlake held its second annual “Action Run,” a 5K race at Conejo Creek Park to support youth from Area Housing of Ventura Country, a housing facility for low-income families that in addition to less expensive rent also provides activities and educational programs for their children.

Hundreds of high school students from Maine to Maui are helping Major League baseball players and Volunteers of America train and inspire the next generation of volunteers through the Action Team national youth volunteer program. These teens – Action Team Captains – in turn, plan, organize and participate in volunteer activities of their choosing that support causes important to their individual communities.

Chicago White Sox Infielder Todd Frazier Heaps Praise on High School Volunteers
On Wednesday April 26, the Action Team hosted its third and final national conference call of the school year. Once again, the Action Team’s very own “iron man” and longtime Cincinnati Reds broadcaster George Grande hosted the call – something he has done for every one of these calls since they began in 2009. Joining George was Chicago White Sox third baseman Todd Frazier, who was excited to be joining in the call to help celebrate National Volunteer Week, ( April 23-29.)

Action Team Ambassador Juan Salinas-Bentley didn’t derive nearly as much satisfaction from his baseball team’s 19-1 win over neighboring Palm Beach Lakes in February as he did from raising funds to help the financially stressed school pay the $1,485 for umpires it needed to complete this season.
