CBRE Hosts Women Leaders at "Power of We" Conference
CBRE hosted its first "Power of WE" Conference on November 14-15 in Nashville, Tennessee. The Power of WE, which stands for Women Excelling, was organized by the CBRE Women's Network for the company's most senior business women and the top women executives from its client companies. The conference featured workshops, discussions and networking opportunities at which they could explore ideas and trends in commercial real estate, and discover new ways to continue excelling in their careers.

Commercial Real Estate Firms Are Helping Veterans Find Jobs In The Industry
CBRE, the world’s largest commercial brokerage based on 2016 revenue, launched CBRE Military in 2006. The program works in tandem with a handful of organizations to locate current and veteran service members, identify their strengths and interests and connect them with potential employers. The brokerage has 1,800 veterans on staff out of 75,000 employees globally.

CBRE Group, Inc. announced that it received a perfect score of 100 percent for the fifth straight year on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality. With its high score in the CEI, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, CBRE is recognized as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.

CBRE Appoints Karen Ellzey Co-Executive Sponsor of LGBT & Allies
CBRE announced that Karen Ellzey, CBRE Executive Managing Director, Global Workplace Solutions (GWS), has taken a leadership role for LGBT & Allies. Ms. Ellzey will serve as the Co-Executive Sponsor of the company’s employee network group.

Founded in 2009, LGBT & Allies is a group dedicated to supporting our LGBT community while influencing CBRE diversity and inclusion practices. Since launching the group, LGBT & Allies has grown to 300 employees.

LGBT Neighborhoods: Finding Community in Suburbia
Historically speaking, finding an LGBT-friendly neighborhood was easier to do in a city than it was in the suburbs. The Castro in San Francisco, Chelsea in New York City, and Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C., are three of the most recognizable LGBT neighborhoods in the United States. Elsewhere in the world, there’s Chueca in Madrid, Nollendorfplatz in Berlin, and Le Marais in Paris, to name a few.

Today, the “gayborhood” is slowly making the move away from cities and into the suburbs.
