CITGO and Bess the Book Bus Help Advance Literacy and Change Lives for Children

CITGO sponsors Bess the Book Bus, a national mobile literacy outreach program dedicated to making books available to underprivileged and underserved children and families in the United States. Jennifer Frances, the founder of Bess the Book Bus, drives her bus across the country to visit schools, community centers, shelters, and after-school programs. Since its founding in 2002, Bess the Book Bus serves more than 25,000 children and gives away more than 50,000 books in dozens of states across the USA each year. CITGO Fuels Mobile Literacy Program ‘Bess the Book Bus’ National Tour
Continuing efforts to bring free books and a love of reading to children in underserved communities, CITGO Petroleum Corporation joined mobile literacy program Bess the Book Bus in kicking off the next leg of its 2015 national tour on August 24 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Since January, Bess the Book Bus has distributed more than 29,000 free books to 21,000 children – and is well on the way to reaching its goal of distributing 100,000 books to 25,000 children across more than 30 states this year alone.
