PT Freeport Indonesia, a Freeport-McMoRan company, has sponsored a coffee farmer collective in Papua, Indonesia since 2000. For 17 years Amungme Gold coffee has been farmed and processed by indigenous Amungme farmers under the guidance of Freeport’s entrepreneur business program to meet growing demand from consumers.

For the fifth consecutive year, Freeport-McMoRan has been named as a Civic 50 winner. Freeport-McMoRan is the top company in the materials sector, largely due to their community and stakeholder engagement programs, and their mining education initiatives.

Freeport-McMoRan’s Green Valley Community Investment Fund Grants $450,000 to Arizona Communities
Recipients were selected by the Green Valley CIF, which is overseen by a committee of community leaders assembled by the Freeport-McMoRan Community Partnership Panel, to identify and address community needs in health care, education, environment, economic development and transportation with positive, sustainable solutions.

The CIF was established in 2010, as part of Freeport-McMoRan’s objectives to empower communities to develop and identify projects that would help ensure their self-sufficiency beyond the presence of Freeport-McMoRan operations.

Cerro Verde, a Freeport-McMoRan Company, Featured in Mining With Principles Campaign for Water Treatment Program
Cerro Verde is located in an arid region of southwestern Peru, close to the city of Arequipa. Population growth, industrialization, and sewage contamination of the river Chili were increasing pressures on an already limited water supply. Recognizing this, Freeport-McMoRan worked with local stakeholders to co-finance a water treatment plant that takes contaminated water from the local river and makes it drinkable.
