Action for Healthy Kids® and CSX Provide Grants to 295 Schools for 2016-2017 School Year
Action for Healthy Kids® (AFHK) announces the 295 recipients of School Grants for Healthy Kids for the 2016-2017 school year, provided through funding from CSX Transportation. Awarded in 13 states, the Game On grants aim to expand student access to in-school physical activity and healthy foods, improve knowledge and behaviors around exercise and nutrition, and engage parents in activities that reinforce healthy habits at home. Since 2013, CSX-supported School Grants for Healthy Kids have helped 1,074 schools implement health and wellness initiatives, impacting more than 546,000 students.

CSX Sells Cave Rights to Support Conservation Efforts and Boost Local Tourism
CSX has sold the rights of the Hidden River Cave to the city of Horse Cave in Kentucky. The purchase of the cave rights will contribute to the economic, scientific, and educational development of the local community through an environmental tourist attraction.

CSX and Partners Help Spruce Up John Spry Community School in Chicago
CSX employees joined with national nonprofit partners, City Year and Action for Healthy Kids, and local volunteers to help make John Spry Community School in Chicago an even more exciting, healthy, and fun place to go to school. Nearly 100 volunteers on Saturday helped refurbish the gymnasium, improve the playground, and paint murals in the school’s interior and playground.

CSX employees gathered at Grandview Elementary School in Charleston, W.V. on Saturday to spend the morning volunteering to improve the school. They were joined by CSX’s national service partners City Year, Action for Healthy Kids and Arbor Day Foundation, along with volunteers from the community and school.
