Measuring Sustainable Companies: Draft National Standard for Sustainable Organizations (LEO-1000)

As interest in sustainability increases in the marketplace, investors, procurement programs, and consumers need a way to evaluate the sustainability of companies and organizations. A national standard will address the three foundational areas of sustainability – environmental stewardship, social equity, and economic prosperity. Leonardo Academy is developing this standard for Sustainable Organizations (LEO-1000), under the rules of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The standard will define what a sustainable company or organization is and how the level of sustainability achievements can be measured and documented.
