Orion Assembly Welcomes Back Local-built Bolt Ev for a Special Pitt Stop on Its Way to New York Climate Week
Employees at General Motors' Orion Assembly plant recently held a homecoming ceremony for a very special Chevrolet Bolt EV. Pun intended, this locally-built EV was charged with traveling cross-country as part of the New American Road Trip, an 11-day, nearly 3,000-mile journey from the San Francisco Global Climate Action Summit to New York’s annual Climate Week.

Consumers Energy Plugs in to Clean Energy Future,Turning to Electric Vehicles for Company Employees
Consumers Energy yesterday announced plans to provide more electric vehicles for its employees -- a major step toward a clean energy future for Michigan.

Consumers Energy President and CEO Patti Poppe said yesterday morning that the company is now buying or leasing electric vehicles instead of purchasing new sedans that rely on gasoline. Poppe and an official from General Motors also announced the start of a pilot program to test smart charging for electric vehicle owners.

Honda Partners on General Motors’ Next Gen Battery Development
General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) and Honda (NYSE: HMC) announced an agreement for new advanced chemistry battery components, including the cell and module, to accelerate both companies’ plans for all-electric vehicles. The next-generation battery will deliver higher energy density, smaller packaging and faster charging capabilities for both companies’ future products, mainly for the North American market.

SoftBank and GM Join Forces on Large-Scale AV Deployment
In the next critical move toward the commercialization of autonomous vehicles, this week General Motors announced an historic deal with SoftBank Vision Fund. The world’s largest tech and ridesharing investor will invest $2.25 billion in GM Cruise, our recently formed majority owned subsidiary. With the addition of $1.1 billion from GM, the funds will drive large AV commercialization beginning in 2019.
