OneWeek activities will be featured that not only provide Capital One associates with opportunities for traditional  volunteerism in their communities, but will also match their unique talents with community organizations in need. These will include host two ScopeAthons – one in Chicago, Illinois and the other in Plano, Texas. ScopeAthons are one-day events in which corporate employees unleash their expertise to diagnose challenges faced by participating nonprofits through pro bono projects.

During the ScopeAthons, Capital One associates will participate in pro bono projects and share their expertise with leaders from nearly 25 non-profit organizations to help them address their biggest challenges and translate those challenges into an actionable scope of work that will help the non-profits achieve their goals and succeed.

Capital One’s pro bono program combines two of its core strategies for running a successful company – nurturing the talents of their employees in areas such as legal, technology, brand, financial management and HR, and sharing these talents with the community. Since 2008, more than 750 Capital One associates have donated nearly 25,000 hours to 315 nonprofit partners, resulting in $7M worth of services.

About Taproot
Since 2001, Taproot Foundation has proven that pro bono service is a viable and reliable tool for strengthening nonprofit organizations. Today, Taproot continues to build on its decade of experience and is driving the development of a pro bono marketplace that, like philanthropy, is large, accessible, professional and transparent. By taking lessons learned from our award-winning Service Grant Program and applying them to our innovative new program areas, we work to stimulate the supply of pro bono resources through our corporate Advisory Services practice, as well as demand for these services by giving nonprofits the tools and training that sets them up for successful pro bono engagements. Our work has evolved to include thought leadership and international field-building, convening global leaders in the social sector to guide the design and direction of the pro bono movement while focusing on infusing a pro bono ethic into business professions, professional schools, companies and nonprofits in communities across the country and around the world. About Pro Bono Service
Pro bono—"for the public good"—is the donation of professional services to non-profit organizations. It is a form of support for community organizations, and increasingly a core part of the ethic of business professionals who believe that high-quality professional services are too important to only be available to those who can afford them.
