June 7, 2016 /3BL Media/ - Carnival Cruise Line has announced a new charity partnership in Australia, with its guests set to start wiggling for joy as they donate money to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

Under the partnership, guests onboard every Carnival cruise sailing from Australia will be invited to take part in a special “Wiggle for Westmead” top deck dance party to raise funds for the hospital.

The dance event will be held on the last sea day of each cruise, with guests able to join the party by purchasing a special pack featuring a “Wiggle for Westmead” t-shirt and wrist band.  Created by Carnival, the packs will cost $15, with 100 per cent of the purchase price donated to the hospital.

Carnival Cruise Line Vice President Australia Jennifer Vandekreeke said the dance parties were just the first step in a relationship which would see the cruise line support the work of the hospital in a number of ways.

“Our teams onshore and onboard in Australia are thrilled and proud to be partnering with The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and we’re looking forward to helping our guests and crew feel good, by doing good,” Ms Vandekreeke said.

Ms Vandekreeke said she had been deeply moved when she visited The Children’s Hospital at Westmead recently and saw firsthand the work of its staff and the courage of its patients and their families.

“It is an extraordinary organisation filled with everyday superheroes focused on the health, wellbeing and happiness of some courageous kids and their families, and we feel honoured to be able to partner with them.

“At Carnival, we include fun in everything we do and with this partnership we’ll strive to bring a bit of fun into the lives of everyone at the hospital.”

The Children’s Hospital at Westmead Director of Community Relations and Marketing Gilly Paxton said “Wiggle for Westmead” was a wonderful initiative.

“We can’t wait to see holidaymakers get involved.  The support means so much to patients and families during what often is one of the most challenging times of their lives. We are so grateful and excited to be working with Carnival Cruise Line to bring a little more joy to our patients and families,” Ms Paxton said.

The Children’s Hospital at Westmead provides quality care and clinical services to 80,000 sick and injured children each year. It is the largest children’s hospital and paediatric research centre in New South Wales, caring for children from NSW, Australia and across the Pacific Rim.
