Chevy Spark EV Named Most Fuel-Efficient Vehicle Two Years in a Row

The EPA and the U.S. Energy Department named the Chevrolet Spark EV the most fuel-efficient vehicle for the second year in the row. This mighty subcompact is rated at receiving the equivalent of 119 miles per gallon combined on the 2015 Fuel Economy Guide, a list made up of mostly electric vehicles.

IIHS 2014 Top Safety Pick

• The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named the Spark one of its 2014 Top Safety Picks. Ten standard air bags and the OnStar Directions & Connections® Plan make this small car big on safety.

Lithium-ion battery

• The Spark EV is powered by a lithium-ion battery. Battery power equates to a gas-free and tailpipe-emissions-free vehicle that maximizes performance. This car also packs a punch with regenerative breaking which captures energy when slowing down or going downhill.

Electric Propulsion System

• The Spark EV’s innovative propulsion system coupled with the lithium ion battery really gets this small car going. The Spark EV can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 7.2 seconds, and its 327 lb. /ft. torque is not only best-in-class, it rivals some sports cars.

Charging options

• Drivers can charge the Spark EV with a standard 120V cord that plugs into a regular home outlet, or install a 240V charger to get the charging done in less time. The Spark EV was also the first electric vehicle to feature the SAE Combo DC Fast-Charge connector, a great option for out-of-home charging. The SAE combo can charge the battery to 80 percent in just 20 minutes.

• Not only will you avoid the cost of gas, but there’s no oil change on an EV. Spark EV owners save an estimated $150 a month.

The Spark EV is available in California and Oregon, but the Chevrolet Spark is available nationwide.
