New York, April 1, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Citi announced today it will launch the Citi ThankYou® Home Runs for Communities Program at Citi Field during the New York Mets’ 2014 season.  Through the program, Citi will donate $2,000 to one of four tri-state area community partners when a Mets player hits a home run at Citi Field during 2014 regular season games.  The designated organizations are City Harvest, United Neighborhood Houses, USO of Metropolitan New York and the YMCA of Greater New York. The Citi ThankYou® Home Runs for Communities Program began yesterday (March 31) during the Mets’ Opening Day game and will operate through the last regular season home game (September 28) at Citi Field.

Mets outfielder Curtis Granderson is helping launch the Citi ThankYou® Home Runs for Communities Program. A Roberto Clemente Award nominee and Major League Baseball representative for  the ‘Let’s Move!’ campaign, Granderson is recognized for his positive contributions on and off the field. Granderson’s support  reinforces Citi’s commitment to working with local organizations to enable progress in the communities where it operates.

The Citi ThankYou® Home Runs for Communities Program will serve as the centerpiece of the Citi Teammates in the Community program, a multi-program initiative comprised of events, monetary donations, and ticket opportunities that will allow Citi to highlight its role as an enabler of progress and showcase the community partners as ‘stars’ of the 2014 season. The four community partners will rotate as benefactors at Citi Field home games, and all four partners will receive a $5,000 initial donation to kick-off the program.

“This program is the latest instance of Citi and the Mets coming together to make a difference in our local New York City communities, and we are looking forward to a successful season at the ballpark and beyond,” said Eileen Auld, Tri-State Regional Director of Citi Community Development. “Thanks to the enthusiastic support of Curtis Granderson and the entire Mets organization, the Citi ThankYou® Home Runs for Communities Program will have a meaningful impact for these organizations and the New Yorkers they each serve”.
