IBM seeks to transform the world through it's corporate citizenship initiatives. IBM developed Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) to prepare more students for STEM careers. Seven schools currently operate and an additional 19 will open in 2014. IBM also makes the rapid urbanization of our planet smarter and more livable through the Smarter Cities Challenge. In 2013, 180 IBM experts were deployed to 31 cities to help improve efficiency, spur economic growth, and connect citizens to social services. The company also helps improve the effectiveness of nonprofits with its Impact Grants. Since 2010, 1,000 grants valuing $25M have been awarded worldwide, providing consulting expertise, hardware, and software.
Pentair seeks to create a more sustainable planet and improve the communities in which it operates. The company has several projects in place all over the world focusing on innovation within the water-food-energy nexus. In Colón, Honduras, Pentair has decreased waterborne diseases by more than 80%. In Pisa, Italy, the 4,110 photovoltaic solar panels of its manufacturing site allow the plant to use 100% renewable energy. Pentair has also significantly contributed to communities on the local level. Its contributions range from mentoring students on science education and employment skills in the United States to donating water filters for natural disaster victims in the Philippines.
The mission of the UnitedHealth Group is help people live healthier lives and to help make the health system work better for everyone. The company’s corporate citizenship initiatives focus on supporting community health needs, developing a healthy future workforce, and improving community wellbeing.
